Neubau Pelletssilo Tschopp

2012–2014

The textured concrete surface of the 60-metre high pellet silo ensures stability with a low material expenditure. The selective omission of individual formwork in the range of the upper termination enabled an added design value to be extracted using the rudimentary device of sliding formwork, which in terms of costs and the construction process was optimised in two stages. The flutings, with echoes of an antique column, create a lively play of light and shadow, significantly enhancing the building ensemble, including its conventional silos, and lending the functional construction - which is visible for miles around - a presence that transcends its sheer size.
